ideas you can try out today

We have prepared three ideas you can try out today with Hello Retail’s Audience solution
(even if you are not a Hello Retail customer, give it a go – Audience is free!)

Tuesday Tip no. 1

Show gratitude and appreciation to your buyers with a Christmas card!
Send it via email, as it is the cheaper way of doing that at scale. You can include a warm holiday greeting, a “Thank you for supporting us” note, or any other message you want to relay to your customer base. Make it fun or catchy, and be authentic with what you are saying – be human. 2022 was a tough year, people can relate to that, so show them gratitude for their support and watch them stick around!

Include an extra 5 or 10% extra discount on all orders placed in December, to ease their Christmas shopping and prompt them to buy from you again.

If you are unsure how to get a list of everyone who placed an order with you this year, follow our simple step-by-step guide!

  1. Go to Audience
  2. Click “Create new”
  3. Give a name to your Audience and click “Add segment”
  4. Select “Previous orders”
  5. Use the following configuration: The customer has previously made more than 0 orders. I do want to filter by a specific time period.
  6. Navigate back to January and select 2022-01-01 as a start date. Your second selection could be the current date, to make sure you have the most complete customer list.
  7. Click “Add”
  8. Hit the “Create” button.

Once the Audience is ready, you will get an email notification. You can then export the email addresses of all customers who gave you their consent to being contacted via email. Use the export to send out your Christmas wishes!

Tuesday Tip no. 2

On-time delivery

Inform last-minute shoppers about delivery times and set a cut-off purchase date, to ensure on-time package delivery for the holidays. Make sure this information is visible on your online store, too!

To ensure panic buyers are aware of those key details and plan accordingly, you can follow these simple steps below.

  1. Go to Audience
  2. Click “Create new”
  3. Give a name to your Audience and click “Add segment”
  4. Select “Previous orders”
  5. Use the following configuration: The customer has previously made more than 0 orders. I do want to filter by a specific time period.
  6. Select any dates that are consistent with what is considered a late order for your store e.g. 2021-12-10 to 2021-12-17.
  7. Click “Add”
  8. Hit the “Create” button

This will give you a list of last year’s late shoppers. Export the email addresses of those who have opted in to receive updates from you and let them know about the important shipping details.

Another thing you can do is to sync this Audience with Facebook and market to a look-alike Audience. This will allow you to spread the message.

Tuesday Tip no. 3

Stock up on your bestsellers

Keep your popular products in stock – they have made it to the top for a reason!

Chances are, customers will be looking for what is well-liked in your e-store and you do not want to lose them due to “Sold out” products. With Audience, you can quickly identify the 5 products that made it to the top of your customers’ shopping lists last December.

Stock up on your bestsellers in advance and delight your buyers by providing exactly what they need!

  1. Go to Audience
  2. Click “Create new”
  3. Give a name to your Audience and click “Add segment”
  4. Select “Previous orders”
  5. Use the following configuration: The customer has previously made more than 0 orders. I do want to filter by a specific time period.
  6. Select the dates that match your Christmas campaigns e.g. 2021-12-01 to 2021-12-20.
  7. Click “Add”
  8. Hit the “Create” button

Once the Audience is generated, you will be able to see the list called Top Products, which highlights the bestselling products of your last year’s holiday campaign!

Use the list to stay on top of your customers needs and match them with the right products.

But wait

since it’s soon Christmas, we want to gift you with two more free tips

Spread the holiday mood

Attract more visitors and buyers with a giveaway!
This form of exposure on social media has become native in the eCommerce space - use it to your advantage.Ask people to tag friends, follow you on different channels or subscribe to your newsletters. Draw a lucky winner or multiple winners and send them gifts. It is Christmas, after all, right?

Utilise festive packaging

Set up the mood before your customers have even opened the package!
