Why it matters
About 6% of total revenue generated through Hello Retail Search is attributed to Initial Content. The product cards shown the instant a shopper clicks the search bar can now run on personalization, with the same merchandising controls available elsewhere in Search.
What’s new
You can now apply Hello Retail’s recommendation algorithms directly inside Initial Content, with the same merchandising controls available across the platform:
- Predefined algorithms for quick setup
- Custom logic via filters, layered rules, and fallback steps
- Dynamic personalization that adapts product cards to each shopper’s browsing and purchase history
How it works

Product cards appear the moment a shopper clicks the search bar and stay visible until they start typing. By default, the cards display top products or retargeted items. With the new algorithm support, you can override that with your own merchandising mix:
- Seasonal campaigns such as Valentine’s Day gifts, Black Friday, or Christmas bestsellers
- Bestseller promotion to lean on high-demand items
- Category highlights for promoted or high-margin collections
- Personalized selection based on previously viewed products or purchase likelihood
