New: Complementary Product Agent

A new Price Drop agent that works product affinities in reverse. When a product's price drops, it reaches customers who already bought the item it pairs with, and it performs especially well on dormant buyers.

Complementary Product Agent: a bike on sale links to a discounted Aero Helmet at -26%, sent to a past bike buyer

The Complementary Product Agent is the fourth Price Drop agent. When a product’s price drops, it reaches the customers most likely to care: the people who already bought the product it pairs with.

Why it matters

Most price-drop campaigns send the discount to people who looked at the discounted product. This agent works the other direction. It looks at which products are commonly bought together, then runs that affinity in reverse. A discount on one product becomes a relevant offer for the owners of its natural companion.

It also reaches customers other flows tend to miss. Someone who bought a single item and never browsed your store is hard to re-engage with generic messaging. The Complementary Product Agent gives them a reason to come back that is grounded in something they already own, so the outreach lands as useful rather than random.

How it works

Say a bike helmet goes on sale. Instead of waiting for shoppers to view the helmet, the agent identifies customers who previously bought a bike and sends them the helmet offer. The bike and the helmet are commonly bought together, so the discount reaches an audience with a real reason to buy.

The agent triggers on an actual price drop, the same as the other Price Drop agents, and is powered by Product Intelligence, the AI backbone that tracks price changes, purchase history, and which products go together. It joins the existing three Price Drop agents: Price Drop (Viewed), Price Drop (Alternative), and Price Drop (Replenishment).
